Back then they had heard Lord Jagannatha was sick, and that they were supposed to bring Him to the sea, where the fresh air would make Him feel better. So, putting the Deity of Jagannath on a makeshift chariot, a ragtag team of young devotees led Him through the Toronto neighborhood known as “The Beaches.”

New Vrindavan, the ISKCON farm community in the foothills of West Virginia, USA, hosted its sixth 24 hour kirtan over the weekend of the 16th June. Organised by Mantrology, a cutting edge music organisation, this twice-yearly festival gave participants the opportunity to chant with some of the most gifted mantra musicians in the world.
As ISKCON heads towards its fiftieth year, a majority of its members, who once renounced everything to live in temple ashramas, now find themselves working full-time to maintain their families. Some may even start their own enterprises.
