A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada's spiritual journey began early in life, but it wasn't until he went to New York from India in 1965 that the Hare Krishna phenomenon went global. Prabhupada, 69 years old at the time and holding about $7 to his name, made the trip alone from India to America on an ocean freighter. Soon after, he founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, the organization through which he recruited more followers to the denomination known as the Hare Krishna Movement. The movement was rooted in Hindu culture but embraced the idea of a single God. Prabhupada began touring the world on lecture tours, circling the globe 14 times in 11 years. In the photo, he speaks in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park in 1969. He eventually wrote more than 70 books before he died in 1977 at 81. Today the ISKC says it has more than 1 million followers worldwide.

It is nice people are coming to understand and know about Prabhupada.He is the saviour of the whole world.He is a Patita paavana,one who saves the fallen.The hare Krsna Movement is not even connected to hinduism.it is above all Religion.Because god is one and can be one and only one and He can not be Hindu or Moslim or Christian.religions are made by Men.But Dharma is coming directly and enunciated by bhagavan.dharmam tu sakshat bhagavat Pranita,.Krsna is the Supreme father,bhagavan,possessing all six opulances in full.He is the Supersoul present in the heart of all living beings including Christian,muslim whoever for that matter.sarvasya chaaham Hridi shanni vishto (BG)I am present in the heart of all living beings.He is the Master and all others are His servants.Our duty is to serve Krsna because jivera svarupa haya Krishnera nitya dasa.We eternal servant of Krsna.If we serve Krsna we become happy.In Kali yuga only cheating religions will be there.those who want to be cheated take to the cheating religions.Take to Krsna Consciousness chant Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare /Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare hare!
