New York Celebrates Sri Sri Radha Govinda’s 40th Anniversary
The beautiful deities of Radha Govinda were given to Srila Prabhupada by the Maharani of Jaipur, Gayatri Devi.
Prabhupada directed that these deities were to be sent to New York to be worshipped by the devotees there. The deities arrived in February of 1972, and then on Gaura Purnima, they were placed on the altar with hundreds of devotees chanting the holy names. Since then, thousands of devotees have worshiped the sacred deities.
This year will mark 40 years since the establishment of Sri Sri Radha Govinda Deva in New York City. The devotees of ISKCON New York have an excellent 10 day festival of Sri Radha Govinda Darshans, Hari Katha, kirtans, devotional plays, satsanga, harinam sankirtan, spiritual discourses, prasadam feasts and the famous Ratha Yatra Festival on Manhattan`s Fifth Avenue on June 9th.
